Running in Monterey

This past week I've been in the Monterey, CA area for work. Since I'll be in California for the next two weeks, I'm not left with enough time to go home on weekends. Instead of sit idling homesick in my hotel room, I got out and explored the area including a visit to 17 mile drive, home to the famous Pebble Beach Golf Club as well a Big Sur, CA. The rocky shores and waves were so inspiring, particularly since there were so many cyclists and runners out, and I decided I needed to try running again after doing a few months of physical therapy for an overtraining injury. On Sunday, I went a little cray at the Lucy store in Monterey, picking up some hot pink crops and other items, after which I hit the beach ready to run. I made it probably no more than 3-4 miles, but it was my first true run since last June, and it felt like a milestone even though I used to consider 3 mile runs a warm up.

It was a great weekend even though I couldn't be home, I made the most of it. I've decided to start studying for an NACSM certification in personal training. Definitely looking forward to being able to post workouts on here, just want the piece of paper first.

Have a great week.

Summer Beauty Must Haves

Summer Beauty Must Haves

Summer Beauty Must Haves by chicinsneakers featuring lips makeup

While I'm in California right now, which seems like a land of perpetual spring and summer to an outsider like me, it is finally starting to warm up in the Midwest. Summer is the time travel, make room for adventure, and minimize time wasted on a beauty routine. Personally, I am a huge fan of dry shampoos, surf sprays, and leave-in conditioners that remove oil, add beachy texture, and moisturize, respectively. These products can slash time spent styling hair in the summer, when honestly, who wants to blow dry and flat iron their hair when its 90+ degrees out? (Not I...)

Cream blushes are another great product for a quick and easy touch of color in the morning or after a dip in the pool. As far as bronzers go, I believe a light touch of color is great to contour and achieve that summer "glow", without the UV rays. Bronzer looks most natural when there is no glitter, and Too Faced makes a great matte bronzer, called Chocolate Soleil, in several colors for various skin tones. I also included a favorite nude-pink lipstick of mine (Angel by MAC) and some frosted blue shadow in the set above by Benefit as some new makeup items to try. I would recommend doing one or the other, as combining them will trigger flashbacks of the late 90s early 2000s. For a more modern take, pair frosted blue shadow with a fresh, dewy face and a natural lip. The nude lipstick can be taken up a notch because it is close to a natural lip color with a dark neutral smoky eye.

Fresh Spring Kicks

No matter how gorgeous and on-trend heels often are, I am definitely not one who can wear them on a day to day basis. I live for a pair of awesome looking sneakers (hence my blog name), and lately I've really been feeling florals, graphic prints, mixed metals, and espadrilles. I put together this set for you guys, with both high and low budget options with links below. Enjoy!

Workout Track of the Moment

Hey gym bunnies, hope your week is going amazing. I got some exciting news this week, I will be traveling to California for the next couple of weeks for work. Can't wait for the sunshine, I'm such a lucky girl! Also, I decided to spend part of my tax refund on finally getting my personal trainer CPT. I've always wanted to be a personal trainer, and I have always seen myself helping people achieve their fitness goals in addition to a having a full time career. I am passionate about living a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and I want to seek out whatever knowledge I can. One of my major pet peeves is people who post workouts or give dietary recommendations to people (charging money) when they have no certifications or formal education to base their recommendations upon. I completely understand when fitness or bodybuilding competitors give advice or answer questions about their own workout and meal plans, because they are simply sharing what they are doing. When giving advice, I think it important to understand the science and physiology underlying fitness and health. Anyway, once I do have my CPT, I plan to start posting and sharing workouts. Enjoy the 3LAU track and get after it!

I'm working through an injury, but plan to start posting workouts once I'm back to the workouts I would like to be doing. Also, maybe some outfit posts, sounds good?

Snake Print Kicks: Splurge or Steal

Giuseppe Zanotti Snake Print Sneak Print Double Zip High Top

I've been feeling a snake print moment lately, and have been searching for the perfect pair of snake print sneakers. These are some of my favorite high tops for those with either a grandiose or thrifty budget. I might have to post some low-top options as well, after reorganizing my closet I discovered that a pair of my nike high tops has snake print around the heel (ugh, fail). What do you guys think? Chic, no?
